灰度撤回以太币期货ETF申请 彭博分析师指可能是SEC说服其放弃

5月7日，全球最大的加密资产管理公司 Grayscale Investments 宣布撤回向美国证券交易委员会（SEC）提交的以太币期货ETF申请。Grayscale 没有透露撤回申请的具体原因，只指出自2023年9月19日首次提交申请以来，SEC已多次推迟审理，分别在去年11月15日、12月18日和今年3月22日表示需要更多时间来审查该提案。

申请原意为争添法律压力

此举引起了广泛的猜测。彭博ETF高级分析师James Seyffart认为，这份申请可能是一种战略行为，将其以太币期货ETF用作“特洛伊木马”，以期在GBTC诉讼中创造与赢得比特币期货和现货审批不一致的情况。去年8月，美国联邦上诉法院在一项针对SEC的诉讼中支持了Grayscale，批评SEC批准比特币期货ETF而拒绝比特币现货ETF。

不过以上说法的理据很薄弱，Seyffart对Grayscale现在撤回申请表示不解，尤其是因为SEC必须在5月23日之前就至少一个现货以太币ETF做出决定，而最快需要审核的是5月23日之的VanEck的申请，ARK 21Shares和Hashdex的最后期限则分别是5月24日和5月30日。

Idk why they’d do this honestly. In my mind might as well make the SEC write up an approval or denial for an ETH futures ETF and go from there? Maybe the SEC spoke with Grayscale about this… And whatever was said convinced Grayscale to withdraw? (This is a complete guess)

Seyffart进一步推测：“老实说，我不知道他们为什么要这么做。在我看来，何不让SEC就ETH期货ETF撰写一份批准或拒绝的决定，然后再根据那个决定进行下一步？可能SEC与Grayscale就此事进行了交谈……而交谈中的某些内容可能说服了Grayscale撤回申请？（这完全是猜测）”

也有观点认为，Grayscale可能是为了提高现货ETF获批的概率，不过该说法同样站不住脚，因为SEC可能会批准以太币期货ETF，同时拒绝以太币现货ETF。
